Albert Smith of Peru’s Hope helps supply children with the necessary school uniforms and supplies to enable them to attend school. Although public education is free, the supplies cost approximately $150 per year for each child. This amount is prohibitive for many families, especially for those run by a single mother.
We have joined with Albert to raise funds so that he can help as many children in need as possible. Albert also supplies enough food for the most destitute families so the mother doesn’t have to rely on the children selling candy on the main squares in Iquitos. This keeps the children off the streets and away from those who would abuse and exploit them. Programs like this are why Children of the Amazon exists.
