Since its inception, Children of the Amazon has been a supporter of Safe Haven, located 43 Km outside of Iquitos Peru. Safe Haven was established to aid abandoned, abused and at risk children in the city and surrounding communities. We have helped with various projects including: building an on-site church, foster care, purchase of supplies and vehicles, operating medical and dental clinics and the development of an on-site Children’s Medical Clinic-staffed with local medical professionals. To aid in the support of Save Haven, there is a working farm on the property processing: papaya, yucca and raising pigs to sell at the local market. Local churches and missionaries also use the property for youth camps and retreats. Director, Art Corn, serves on our board.
